Sony launches 9MP XCL-S series CameraLink machine vision cameras

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions division has launched the XCL-S series of machine vision cameras, the industry’s first to use a 9MP sensor. The suite of camera modules uses the CameraLink transmission standard and is available immediately through Sony and its distribution partners.

The new Sony XCL-S900/C (9MP) and XCL-S600/C (6MP) camera modules come in both colour and black/white variants and use the latest Sony EXview HADII CCD™ technology, a 1/1 sensor that can capture images in low light conditions and near-infrared wavelengths and is among the industry’s most sensitive devices.

“This suite of cameras were developed to meet the evolving needs of our customers, and the launch underlines our commitment to image quality,” said, Myriam Beraneck of Sony. “Our engineers have worked closely with the sensor development team to ensure this camera gives an unsurpassed quality and the modules’ combination of exceptional frame rate and resolution means we’re now exceeding the quality that analogue can deliver.“

The high frame-rate (up to 27fps) cameras are being targeted at applications that demand industry leading image quality, such as the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, solar, PCB and display panel sectors.

Additional features include: a user configurable memory channel for up to 16 parameters, shading correction, defect correction, sensitivity control, bulk / sequential trigger modes, trigger noise filtering, look-up table support, a pulse train generator and temperature readouts.
