Sony XCL-SG510 wins product of the year award
Sony’s 5.1 MP 154 fps GS CMOS Camera Link module wins Elektronik’s product of the year award
Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions Division today announced its XCL-SG510 series of Camera Link V2.0 modules has won one of Elektronik magazine’s prestigious Product of the Year Awards.
The award for the 5.1 MP, 154fps global-shutter CMOS modules was presented at a ceremony hosted by Elektronik magazine’s publisher, Weka, in Munich on 30th March.
Sony’s XCL-SG510 was unveiled in November and the cameras are suited to a wide range of sectors to capture high-speed moving objects in low (0.5 lx), imperfect or changing lighting conditions. These include intelligent transport (ITS), factory automation, food / drink inspection and pharmaceutical applications.
The black/white and colour modules make use of the large bandwidth available through CameraLink to provide both high frame rates and on-camera functions including wide dynamic range, frame accumulation, shading and error correction, single and multi ROI (region of interest) imaging and area gain / exposure.
These functions can be hardware and software triggered, using edge detection, pulse width detection, bulk trigger and sequential trigger modes.
The XCL-SG510 module uses the Sony 2/3-type ExmorⓇ CMOS sensor with Pregius technology. The module been created by Sony’s engineering team to extract the industry’s best image from this market leading sensor.
“The engineering team are delighted to have received this recognition,” said Arnaud Destruels, European Marketing Manager, Sony Image Sensing Solutions. “It is testament to their approach of building the module from the ground up around the sensor to extract the best possible image from it.”
