Understanding the Key Elements of the FCB-EV9520L

Understanding the Key Elements of the FCB-EV9520L

The Sony FCB-EV9520L sets itself apart from other camera blocks through several important attributes. Pivotal to its operation is the unique cell structure utilised. In order to boost sensitivity, the photodiode layer in each cell has been made much deeper than in conventional arrangements.

This, along with inclusion of a diffraction grating, leads to an extended light path length with greater absorption efficiency for longer wavelengths.

Thanks to such innovations, the camera exhibits strong sensitivity, particularly within the near-infra-red NIR spectrum. It is capable of working in ultra-low light conditions - coping with 0.009lx illumination as standard, and going to 0.00008lx when its IR cut-filter removal (ICR) is activated.

Another way that the FCB-EV9520L camera block outperforms competing solutions is in relation to image stabilization. While in Super mode, blur suppression successfully mitigates the effects of even the most extremely intense vibrational forces, via applying a large correction area. If the Super+ mode is engaged, then such stabilisation can be applied during full HD operation - by implementation of a still larger correction area.

To address lighting inconsistencies, the FCB-EV9520L’s wide dynamic range mode sees captured images each being divided into several blocks. It is then possible to correct blocked-up shadows and blown-out highlights to compensate for illumination differences.

The privacy zone masking capability is another valuable characteristic of this block camera. It means that data that needs to be protected is not captured, and laws on personal privacy are not contravened. Using this technology, objects and areas (such as house windows, entrances/exits) which are within the camera’s range of vision can be blanked out accordingly. Masks may be positioned at up to 8 different places on the screen.

Unlike conventional cameras, the FCB-EV9520L can also simultaneously zoom and focus. Inclusion of a proprietary algorithm makes sure that defocusing is kept to an absolute minimum while these actions are being executed.
